A fire devouring 180 palm trees and 150 beehives in the Shabam district

A massive fire broke out, Thursday afternoon, in one of the farms of the Shaqiya area in the Shabam District in Wadi Hadramout, causing severe material losses in palm trees and bee cells.
A local source stated that the fire, whose causes are still unknown, broke out on a farm belonging to Sheikh Rashid Abdullah Amer bin Kada, and led to the burning of 30 palm trees, in addition to the death of about 150 beehives.
According to preliminary estimates, the losses caused by the fire are estimated at more than 20 million Yemeni riyals, amid fears of the repetition of such incidents that affected the palm farms in several areas of Hadramout Valley.
Most of the recent fires on farms are attributed to high temperatures, with the absence of sufficient procedures for prevention and control, according to the people.
