The meeting of the joint technical committee to determine the development needs of Yemen

The Joint Technical Committee for Developing Development Needs of Yemen held today, in its twenty -second session, a meeting, through visual contact, which included the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Waad Badib, and the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Cooperation in the State The countries of the Cooperation Council in Yemen, Sarhan Al -Munqhr, the assistant general supervisor of the Saudi Program for the Development and Construction of Yemen, Eng. Hassan Al -Attas, and representatives of Arab and Gulf funds and international institutions.
At the meeting, Minister Badib pointed out the importance of this session in light of exceptional circumstances facing the country and unprecedented challenges ... reviewing the results of the war ignited by the Houthi terrorist militias and led to the decline in the national economy and the decline in the local currency, which was negatively reflected in the lives of citizens and exacerbated Poverty and unemployment rates.
He pointed out that the Houthi economic escalation and its attacks on the oil export ports led to a decline in the gross domestic product by more than 50 percent and the rise in cumulative inflation to more than 200 percent, and the value of the Yemeni riyal decreased by 700 percent since 2014 .. adding that despite these challenges they continued The government is working to achieve stability and rebuilding state institutions and maintained their international financial obligations and providing basic services to citizens despite the limited resources.
He said, "Within the framework of economic recovery efforts, the government has prepared a comprehensive plan targeting the vital sectors that include water, agriculture, fish wealth, electricity, health, transportation, education, vocational training, industry and infrastructure at a cost of 1.9 billion US dollars" ... indicating that the plan revolves around four main axes It begins to enhance the sustainability of public finances, reduce the budget deficit through achieving banking stability and enhancing the value of the local currency, in order to improve the capabilities of the electricity sector and the production sectors and end with the consolidation of the principle of good governance and institutional reform.
The Minister of Planning praised the pioneering and pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen was provided for unprecedented support in implementing 227 vital projects at a cost of 861 million dollars, in the health, education, water and energy sectors, and 37 projects are currently being implemented at a cost 241 million dollars, in addition to 20 projects under study and planning .. appreciated as well as the distinguished role of the United Arab Emirates in supporting the renewable energy sector in the governorates of Aden, Al -Makha, Shabwa and the upcoming project in Hadramout Governorate in addition to supporting the development of the State of Kuwait to develop the Marib Ghaziyeh Station and Establishment, Ibn Sinai Hospital And implement several projects in the health, education and infrastructure sectors.
He also thanked the Arab and regional funds for its role in supporting the development in the country, most notably the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the Saudi Fund for Development, the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, and the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development ... calling on all the participants to focus on ensuring the mechanisms of effective coordination and nominal time Realism for implementation and clear follow -up.
He expressed his aspiration for this meeting to contribute to enhancing cooperation to implement vital projects that will contribute to improving the living conditions of the Yemeni people and achieving their aspirations for development and stability.
