Based on the directives of His Excellency the Public Prosecutor, Judge Qaher Mustafa Ali, the Public Prosecution in Al-Mahra Governorate this morning implemented a campaign to close the violating and unlicensed ATMs, according to the statements prepared by the Central Bank of the violating and unlicensed ATMs in Al-Mahra Governorate.
The campaign was preceded by a joint meeting between the Chief Prosecutor of the Al-Mahra Governorate Appeals Prosecution, Judge Hani Saleh Balhaf, the Director of the Central Bank, Jamaan Awad Hamed, the Director of Supervision at the Central Bank, Tariq Abdullah Balhaf, and the Director of Public Security, Mufti Suhail Samouda, attended by Judge Fikri Salem Abu Bakr and Judge Abdullah Salem. After the meeting, the closure campaign was implemented in Al-Ghaydah District by members of the Public Prosecution in Al-Ghaydah, accompanied by the Director of the Central Bank of Al-Mahra Branch and their specialists. Five money exchange shops were closed in Al-Ghaydah, six shops in Shehn, and one money exchange shop in Hawf, and are still closed. The campaign is continuing to complete the remaining visits to other directorates to close the violating ATMs, and to refer all violators to public prosecutions to complete the legal procedures to prosecute them.
This campaign emphasizes the importance of adhering to the laws and regulations regulating the work of money changers and adhering to the provisions of the Exchange Law and the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism Law, and in order to protect the national economy and stabilize the local currency.
