According to the Saudi News Agency "SPA", King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud watched an introductory film about the project, which represents one of the major projects taking place in the Kingdom.

Advance plan and several features

The train is distinguished by its high design and technical specifications, and consists of a network that includes 6 train tracks with a length of 176 km, and 85 stations, including 4 main stations.

It should be noted that the “Public Transport Project in Riyadh” was launched from various studies prepared by the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh (formerly the Supreme Authority for the Development of Riyadh) about the current situation of the city and its current and future needs from the public transport sector, and identifying the best solutions and options for establishing A sustainable public transportation system that is compatible with the reality of the city and its urban, demographic, and traffic characteristics.

These studies concluded with the development of a comprehensive plan for public transportation in the city of Riyadh, which included the establishment of a train transportation network and a parallel bus transportation network, working to contain the existing and expected transportation requirements in the city. The plan culminated in the issuance of a Cabinet decision “approving the implementation of the project.” Public transportation in Riyadh - train and buses.

The Authority launched a major process to qualify international coalitions to compete to implement the project, and approval was issued to award contracts for the implementation of the “Riyadh Metro” project to 3 coalitions that include more than 19 major international companies belonging to 13 countries.

The Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh completed the completion of the project, which is considered one of the largest public transportation projects in the world, as it covers the entire area of ​​the city of Riyadh within one stage, in addition to its precise nature, high design and technical specifications, and its harmony with the social, environmental, and urban characteristics of the city of Riyadh and its residents, to In addition to the revenues that the project contributes to the city of Riyadh, beyond providing public transportation services, and raising the level of quality of life in it in general, in line with the objectives of the “Kingdom’s Vision.” 2030".
