Urgent.. The United States imposes sanctions on the Governor of the Houthi Central Bank, Hashem Al-Madani

The US Treasury Department announced, in an urgent statement, the imposition of new sanctions on entities and individuals linked to Iran and the terrorist Houthi militias, as part of its efforts to combat activities that threaten regional and international security.
The US Treasury said that the sanctions include three ships involved in the Iranian oil and petrochemical trade, which violates international sanctions imposed on Tehran. The Ministry confirmed that these ships were used to transport oil shipments exported from Iran to several areas, including areas under the control of the Houthi militias.
The US Treasury also included Hashem Al-Madani, Governor of the Houthi Central Bank in Sanaa, on the sanctions list, due to his direct association with financial activities that harm the Yemeni economy and support the military operations of the Houthi militias.
In addition, the sanctions included cryptocurrency wallets linked to Saeed Al-Jamal, a prominent financial official in the Houthi militia, who is accused of facilitating the transfer of funds and using cryptocurrencies to finance the militia’s terrorist activities.
These sanctions come within the framework of the United States’ ongoing efforts to deter Iranian activities supporting terrorism in the region, and to increase pressure on the Houthi militias that continue to threaten security in Yemen and the region.
