Saudi Arabia announced the provision of new economic support to Yemen worth half a billion US dollars, under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect them, and in confirmation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued support for the brotherly Yemeni people,
In a statement by the Kingdom's ambassador to Yemen, Muhammad Al Jaber, he explained that the support includes a new deposit to the Central Bank of Yemen in the amount of $300 million, in addition to a fourth payment to support addressing the budget deficit of the Yemeni government in the amount of $200 million. This support includes paying employees' salaries and wages and operating expenses, as well as supporting food security in Yemen.
Al Jaber stressed that this initiative comes within the framework of the Kingdom’s firm and continuous commitment to providing humanitarian and economic aid to Yemen, in order to achieve security, stability and development for the brotherly Yemeni people. He added that Saudi support reflects the deep fraternal ties between the Saudi and Yemeni peoples, and aims to support the Yemeni government in facing the current economic challenges and improving the living conditions of citizens.
