The Yemeni currency witnessed a sharp decline in front of foreign currencies on Wednesday evening, as the exchange rate recorded levels described by experts in the exchange markets in Aden.

According to the price indicators allocated at four thirty in the evening, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, the US dollar exchange rate reached 2480 riyals for purchase and 2506 riyals for sale.

The Saudi riyal exchange also exceeded the barrier of 650 Yemeni riyals, recording 652 riyals for purchase and 657 riyals for sale, in a development that reflects the instability in the local currency.

This deterioration comes in the value of the Yemeni currency in light of the continuous economic crisis that ravages the country, which has been exacerbated by multiple political and security factors, as well as the lack of unified monetary policies between the different regions of the country.

Observers expect this sharp decline in the value of the Yemeni riyal to an additional increase in basic commodity prices, which will increase the suffering of citizens in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions they are living in.
