A joint team from the Projects Unit of the Roads and Bridges Fund visited the main center - the capital, Aden, and UNOPS visited road maintenance projects in Abyan funded by the World Bank and the accompanying team headed by Engineer Abdul-Jabbar Salem, specialist in road projects, this morning, accompanied by Engineer Ramses Younis, the city engineer for governorate projects. I returned, Lahj, Abyan, Al-Dhalea and Taiz, with the Director General of the Executive Unit for International Projects of the Road and Bridge Maintenance Fund, Engineer Mahboob Hamid, where they were received by Mr. Ahmed Jarfoush, Deputy Governor of Abyan Governorate, Engineer Khaled Al-Humayqani, Director of the Public Works Office in the Governorate, and Sha’i Al-Dahuri, Director of the Zanzibar Directorate.
The delegation toured a group of projects funded by the World Bank through UNOPS in the city of Zanzibar, Abyan Governorate, and was informed of the levels of completion reached by the projects.
The delegation heard from the implementing agencies there about the reality of work progress in a number of Abyan streets, including the maintenance of Agriculture Street in Zanzibar, the Douglan Tour Line - Gulf Stadium 20, and the street extending from the Badia Tour to Shaddad Fort and from the Badia Tour to the Old Executive Office, which is targeted within the additional funding. Submitted by the Bank, and learn about the progress of project implementation and implementation procedures in accordance with international technical and engineering standards, in addition to work standards in accordance with the World Bank’s agenda for implementing road maintenance projects.
The delegation expressed its happiness with the great efforts accomplished in the projects, pointing to the keenness of the Ministry of Public Works, through the Road Maintenance Fund, to implement quality and safety procedures and standards during the projects.
Engineer Mahboob expressed his thanks for the visit carried out by the United Nations Office “UNOPS”, in which he reflected the keenness of the parties to follow up and monitor the progress of project work in order to enable them to be implemented in the required manner..
