The First Criminal Division of the Aden Court of Appeal will pronounce the ruling at nine o’clock tomorrow morning, Sunday, October 22, 2023, in the case of the murder of the child Haneen Ibrahim Al-Bakri, in which the accused is Hussein Muhammad Hussein Harhara.
Journalist Abdul Rahman Anis said on his Facebook page: The appeal ruling comes after deliberations that lasted for 21 days between the judges of the First Criminal Division, headed by Judge Muhammad Al-Junaidi and the membership of Judges Ahmed Al-Qatwi and Abdullah Omar, and after four sessions held by the Court of Appeal to consider the appeal he submitted. The accused is against the initial death sentence issued against him, and it is heard by all parties to the case.
According to the Code of Criminal Procedure, the ruling shall be issued after the completion of the deliberation, and the deliberation shall be between the judges unanimously based on a majority of opinions. No judge may abstain from voting when issuing the ruling or decision, nor may he abstain from signing the ruling no matter how contrary his opinion is, in accordance with what It is stipulated in Article (396) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The ruling issued in this case is expected to be a decisive factor in the case of the killing of the child Haneen Al-Bakri, which sparked widespread anger in southern and Yemeni society.
The child Haneen Al-Bakri was killed on the eve of last Eid Al-Adha by the bullets of the important Hussein Harhara after a dispute broke out between him and her father over the collision of Al-Bakri’s vehicle with Harhara’s vehicle. The accused went to his house and brought a machine gun and fired it at Al-Bakri’s vehicle with his two daughters inside, and the crime that killed Haneen The wounding of her sister was widely condemned by society.
