Members of the eastern sector of the Coast Guard in Hadhramaut were able to arrest four violators of the decision to ban the hunting of turtles on the coast of the Yathmun Reserve, and they were in possession of a quantity of turtle meat.
The Eastern Sector Command explained that its members were able to arrest the violators during land patrols combing the coast of the Yathmoun Reserve, where turtles breed, and indicated that legal measures would be taken against their violations and their hunting of turtles in the reserves.
The command of the Coast Guard forces in Hadramaut warned all fishermen and citizens not to hunt turtles in the reserves, stressing that it will not hesitate to take deterrent legal measures against them, and indicated that land patrols are constantly combing the reserves to arrest those who violate the decision to prevent the hunting and slaughter of turtles.
The Coast Guard leadership called on fishermen and citizens to preserve marine reserves, by responding to decisions not to hunt turtles, to contribute to preserving the reserves and the marine creatures in them and to preserve turtles from extinction.
