The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, arrived in Taiz Governorate on his first visit since assuming his position, accompanied by members of the Council and a number of state officials, where he was warmly received by the people. During the visit, Al-Alimi announced the launch of a project to generate electricity with a capacity 30 megawatts, in addition to launching dozens of development and service projects for the benefit of the governorate’s residents.
As part of his effort to improve living conditions, Al-Alimi directed the local and military authorities to evacuate government buildings and housing located in seam areas, announcing the start of implementation of this decision to evacuate the Falcon Club. He also pledged to provide alternative housing for the citizens who were evacuated, by assigning Mr. Ali Al-Maamari, The former governor of Taiz, following this file.
Alimi also announced the launch of 160 development and service projects, including the construction of schools, roads, and hospitals, with support from the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen. Among these projects: establishing and equipping the Specialized Oncology Center, the power plant, the Industrial Technical Institute, the rural hospital, and the Joint Unity Model School.
In a comment on the criticism circulated by citizens on social media regarding the performance of the local authority, Al-Alimi confirmed that he is closely following these situations, and that the local authority will be given a period of 6 months to improve its performance, stressing that officials will be held accountable if they do not adhere to the improvements.
