The Minister of Water and Environment, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, met today, in the temporary capital, Aden, with the Director of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Aden, Muhammad Rafiq.
During the meeting, donor countries' pledges to developing countries were discussed in the fields of education, health, environment, climate change and social protection, within the Global Refugee Forum, which is held periodically every 4 years in Geneva with donors, the private sector, states and governments.
The two sides also discussed the solutions provided by the Commission regarding recycling expired soap, where research was conducted on the best safe recycling methods in accordance with established environmental standards, including re-exporting the quantity abroad.
The meeting discussed the ongoing arrangements to hold an expanded workshop next September 27 in the temporary capital, Aden, to know the needs of various sectors to be reflected in our country’s strategy for the next 4 years to obtain funding from donors and the private sector to enhance our country’s ability to confront waves of migration and displacement
The Minister of Water and Environment stressed the Ministry’s keenness to make water and sanitation services an urgent priority among the needs included in projects and programs for the coming years in a way that serves refugees, displaced persons, and the host community.
