The Director General of the Mansoura Directorate, Ahmed Ali Al-Daoudi, chaired an emergency meeting of the security committee in the directorate to discuss the repercussions of the large explosion that occurred at a gas filling station in the Hashid neighborhood on 90th Street last Friday. The explosion, which resulted from a gas leak from a locomotive that was filling tanks. The station resulted in the death of two people and the injury of 18 others, as some nearby buildings suffered major damage.
At the meeting, the Director of Mansoura Police, Colonel Hussein Saleh bin Musahar, presented a report on the accident that caused the station to burn completely, noting that a large quantity of narcotic pills of the “Pregabalin” type were found in one of the damaged houses. These drugs were handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Aden Police.
The Security Committee also decided to stop the operation of all 19 small stations located in residential neighborhoods, while the stations located inside gas stations will continue due to their commitment to complete safety procedures.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a committee was formed headed by the Director of the Fifth Security Region, Brigadier General Ali Bin Ali, and the membership of the Directors of Civil Defense and Public Works, the Head of Community Committees, and the Head of the Cleaning Department in the Directorate. The committee will inventory the human and material damage resulting from the explosion, and will submit its final report within a week.
