Three children died, while two others were rescued, after they fell into a water pool in the “Shaab Nabaa” area, north of Al-Khawkhah District, south of Hodeidah Governorate.
Local sources reported that the pond, which was filled with rainwater, turned into a trap that killed the children who were playing near it.
The sources indicated that the people succeeded in saving two of them, while three died.
Rural areas, especially after the rainy season, witness frequent drowning incidents, especially among children, as a result of the lack of safety barriers around ponds and water holes.
