The Ministry of Public Health and Population, in the capital, Aden, denied recording any case of monkeypox in the liberated governorates.
The Director General of the General Department of Disease Control and Epidemiological Surveillance in the Ministry, Dr. Adham Muhammad, explained in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that the surveillance teams in the Dar Saad District received a report of a suspected case of monkeypox infection in a 32-year-old Ethiopian woman. I came from Ethiopia a few months ago, where the teams went to the case’s home and took the case’s medical history. It turned out that the woman was in her seventh month of pregnancy and had symptoms of fever, headache, and general weakness. Two days later, a skin rash and swollen lymph nodes in the neck area appeared. The teams saw a similar case in a man. The patient's children denied contact with any similar cases over a period of 21 days.
Dr. Adham confirmed that the teams raised the necessary awareness of the case and advised against mixing. He pointed out that the teams had taken two samples of the pimples on the patient and sent them to the central laboratory in Aden, which in turn confirmed that the results of the examination of the two samples were negative, which confirms that there is no The emergence of any case of monkeypox in our country... adding, "The teams have been instructed to follow up on the case and those in contact, as well as to increase the sensitivity of surveillance in the field for early detection of any epidemic and to make rapid interventions to control epidemics."
