The Houthi militia announced, on Monday, that the number of flood victims in Dhamar Governorate, northern Yemen, had risen to 30.
This came in a statement by the director of the Wasab Al-Safil District in Dhamar Governorate, which is under the control of the Houthis, Fouad Al-Qadimi, published by the group’s “September 26” website.
Al-Qadimi said, “Rescue teams from the Civil Defense, the Red Crescent, and members of the community in the district were able to recover the bodies of two citizens who were victims of torrential rain during the past hours, after an extensive search operation according to paths reaching approximately 6 to 8 km in the stomachs of medicines.”
He added that, “the number of bodies recovered since the flood disaster occurred has reached 30 bodies following the complete and partial destruction of more than 25 homes, while rescue teams are still searching for one of the missing persons.”
On Saturday, the Houthi group announced that 27 people were killed as a result of the heavy rains and torrential rains that occurred in Dhamar Governorate during Friday and Thursday, before the number rose today to 30 dead.
Since the beginning of last August, the rate of rainfall has increased in several Yemeni governorates, leading to the death of about 180 people and the injury of hundreds due to torrents and thunderbolts, and more than a quarter of a million people have been affected, especially in displacement camps.
