The Yemeni government, in its meeting held today, Wednesday, in the capital, Aden, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, approved the establishment and management of the “Khor Ambikha” wetland in the Mukalla City District, Hadhramaut Governorate, as a natural reserve, and assigned the Ministers of Legal Affairs, Water and Environment to complete the necessary legal procedures. And submit it to the Prime Minister for signature.
The decision aims to protect biodiversity in the “Khor Ambikha” area, provide sound management of natural resources, protect threatened and rare species, and fulfill obligations towards the International Wetlands Convention. The site contains many species of plants, birds, and others, which constitute great potential for preparing it for environmental and educational tourism.< /p>
Khor Imbikha is also a living museum of ecosystems, especially wetland ecosystems.
