Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, today, Friday, visited the home of freedom fighter Major General Ahmed Salem Obaid, in the capital, Aden, to check on his health, within the framework of offering appreciation and gratitude to national figures, and taking pride in their struggling stances.
During the visit, the Prime Minister noted the struggle record of Major General Obaid, who is considered one of the leaders who took the lead in the national liberation struggle and joined the resistance movement and the liberation army against the British colonialists, until independence was achieved, and the encyclopedia he represents in military science, culture and literature. Pointing to the imprints he left in the various military, civilian and diplomatic positions he held, in addition to his poetic contributions that were sung by a number of artists.
Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak exchanged conversations with Major General Ahmed Salem Obaid about the issues and concerns of the nation, and sought his insights and advice on a number of issues... pointing to the notable and honorable positions of Major General Obaid, for which he paid a lot, his social status, and his experiences that we need. In these exceptional circumstances, as well as his role as one of the founders of the Southern Military Retired Association in 2007.
The Prime Minister indicated that the government recently, despite the difficult circumstances, disbursed the rights of retirees and those forcibly demobilized after the 1994 war, as a due fulfillment to them after decades of exclusion and injustice to which they were exposed, and as a national and moral responsibility towards them.
In turn, the activist Ahmed Salem Obaid expressed his appreciation for the Prime Minister’s visit and wished him good luck and success in his duties...noting his positive movements and sincere efforts to bring about change and alleviate the suffering of citizens, and that they will help him with advice and opinions.
He was accompanied during the visit by the Director of the Prime Minister's Office, Engineer Anis Baharitha, and the Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ambassador Jamal Awad.
