The US Embassy in Yemen said, in a statement on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the illegal arrests carried out by the Houthi gang, “Iran’s agents,” against innocent employees working with the United Nations, non-governmental organizations, and diplomatic missions..
The statement stated that more than a thousand days have passed since the detention of 12 current and former local employees of the US Embassy in the kidnapped capital, Sanaa.
The embassy confirmed that these inhumane acts committed by the Houthis, especially against their Yemeni citizens, reflect the shortsightedness and cruelty of this group..
She added that these arrests deepen the suffering of the detainees and their families, and directly affect the provision of necessary humanitarian aid in areas under the control of the Houthis..
The embassy demanded the immediate release of all detainees, stressing that it would not stop until its Yemeni employees returned safely to their families.
Last June, the Houthi gang arrested dozens of employees of UN and international organizations and foreign embassies, including local employees of the United States Embassy in the kidnapped capital, Sana’a, and fabricated malicious charges against them, including joining a spy network working for the benefit of America and Israel.
