The Minister of State, Governor of Aden Governorate, Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, directed the rapid implementation of the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee related to evaluating and correcting the conditions of gas stations (pumps), starting tomorrow, Sunday.
Lamlas stressed, during the joint meeting that included the Ministerial Committee, the Civil Defense Authority, the Yemeni Gas Company, the directors of the directorates, and the offices of Works, Trade and Industry in Aden, the importance of field visits to the stations, examining their licenses, and the extent of their compliance with all requirements and safety procedures... stressing Total rejection of the presence of any stations inside residential neighborhoods, and the necessity of removing them even if they comply with safety requirements.
The head of the General Oil and Gas Corporation, Chairman of the Ministerial Committee, Muhammad Thabet, reviewed the committee’s report submitted to the Prime Minister regarding gas stations, and its recommendations, including the evaluation form and requirements, in addition to the statistics contained in the report, which confirmed the existence of 122 gas stations, of which 77 are without. Official licenses.
The meeting, which was held today, Saturday, at the governorate’s general office, in the temporary capital, Aden, in the presence of the governorate’s agent, Salah Al-Aqel, also discussed the plan to address the existing problem, through an executive mechanism to evaluate the conditions of the licensed stations, and to emphasize the necessity of implementing all security and safety requirements. Conduct periodic field visits to ensure compliance with this, and bring violators to judicial authorities in accordance with the law and order.
The meeting came out with a number of decisions, the most important of which were starting to empty the violating gas stations and closing them permanently, and submitting a daily completion report for field visits showing the violating and permanently closed stations, and the stations that comply with security and safety conditions and procedures.
