A local official reported that joint forces had made progress against the Houthi group on a Maoist front, on the eastern outskirts of the city of Taiz, Yemen.
Abdul Jabbar Al-Sarari, director of the Mawiyah District, stated that joint forces from the Giants of the Security Belt and the National Shield were able to control the Shawkan area and surrounding villages, including the village of Al-Adib, within the mountain range of the district.
He explained that the attack came a day after Houthi militants attempted to control the "Ahama" area of the Al-Musaimeer District in the southern Lahj Governorate, adjacent to the Shawkan area on the former southern border.
Al-Sarari confirmed the deaths and injuries on both sides, pointing to the displacement of residents from villages, in light of the continued military buildup.
