The Undersecretary of the Capital, Aden, Abdul Raouf Al-Saqqaf, held a joint meeting in his office in the Capital Court, which included Mr. Muhammad Ali Lamlas, Undersecretary of the Education Sector at the Ministry of Education, and Dr. Nawal Jawad Salem, Director of the Education Office in the Governorate, along with a number of officials in the Education Sector. The meeting discussed the numerous complaints received by the governorate’s operations rooms about the excessive rise in fees for some private schools. The Undersecretary of the Capital for Youth Affairs explained that these complaints required communication with the Education Office to submit detailed reports on the situation, calling on the Undersecretary of the Education Sector and the Director of the Education Office to clarify the measures taken.
During the meeting, the governor’s agent called for submitting a preliminary work plan and an operational budget that includes proposals on regulating fees, to be presented to the Minister of State and the Governor of Aden Governorate to take appropriate measures.
For his part, Professor Mohamed Lamlas indicated that a joint meeting was held between the Ministry of Education and the local authority to follow up on the issue, and he suggested forming joint committees to control prices, stressing that the permissible increase in fees does not exceed 10% according to the school’s classification.
While Dr. Nawal Jawad provided an explanation about the mechanism for evaluating private schools, noting that raising fees is based on the annual classification of schools.
Undersecretary Al-Saqqaf also explained that the monitoring process faces challenges due to the lack of financial support for the inspection committees, which requested allocations for transportation and incentives in order for the disembarkation to take place during these days.
