The village of Al-Ma'arn, Thub District, Rural Ibb District, Yemen, witnessed today a horrific humanitarian tragedy, as an old house collapsed on top of its residents, resulting in the death of a woman and the injury of another and two children.

Local sources reported that the tragic accident occurred as a result of the collapse of the old building, and coincided with the heavy rains that fell on the area, which led to its sudden collapse.

The sources indicated that the people were able to extract a number of children and women from under the rubble, while the head of the family was outside the house at the time of the accident.

This unfortunate incident comes in addition to a series of similar incidents taking place in many Yemeni regions, as a result of the dilapidation of old buildings and the lack of attention to their maintenance, especially with the increasing intensity of rain and the effects of climate change.
