Today, Thursday, September 12, 2024, the General Union of Students at the University of Aden held an important meeting headed by the President of the Union, Yahya Al-Tabqi, and in the presence of members of the Union and heads of student councils at the university’s colleges, to discuss issues related to the interests of female students.
The most prominent thing discussed at the meeting was the unanimous rejection of the proposed project, which aims to transform the female students’ housing in the Al-Shaab area into a new building for the College of Information. The attendees stressed the importance of preserving this housing, which serves hundreds of female students from rural areas and those with limited income, stressing that converting it will deprive many of them of continuing their university education.
The Union also rejected the proposed alternative solutions, stressing that they are insufficient and may lead to the complete cancellation of female student housing. At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees denounced the biased media campaigns that harm the University of Aden and promote incorrect information, affirming their support for the university’s reputation and academic standing.
