Narcotics control men in Al-Ghaydah District, Al-Mahra Governorate, this morning, were able to arrest two people who practice manufacturing and trading in municipal liquor (dabsha). The arrest was carried out in the capital, Al-Ghaydah, after investigation and follow-up of one of the accused.
Captain Arif Saeed Askari, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department in Al-Mahra Governorate, explained that the seizure came after citizens reported a house that was emitting foul odors, to be monitored for several days.
He added that after the arrest of the accused, the house was searched by order of the Al-Ghaydah Prosecution, based on previous information and investigations. A barrel with a capacity of 180 liters and thirteen containers with a capacity of (20) liters containing local wine were found, in addition to tools for manufacturing liquor. Two domestic gas cylinders, after which they moved to another house of one of the accused and searched it, and found inside it alcohol and passport documents proving the relationship of all the accused to each other after they denied it.. The accused were placed in custody until the procedures were completed and they were referred to the Public Prosecution..
