President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi held a meeting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira at the United Nations headquarters in New York, USA.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations between our country and Brazil and prospects for cooperation in the humanitarian and service fields and the exchange of experiences in the agricultural sector.
They discussed the latest developments in the political and humanitarian situation in our country, and the outcomes of the political process under the auspices of the United Nations, in light of the continued escalation by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias and their targeting of commercial ships in Bab al-Mandab, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.
President Al-Zubaidi said that the aggression of the terrorist Houthi militias against our people and their escalation against international navigation led to the disruption of all efforts and initiatives aimed at bringing peace to our country and the region, noting the impossibility of reaching a sustainable peace in light of this unjustified escalation against our people, their capabilities, and their food security to a degree. President Al-Zubaidi called on Brazil to contribute to advancing peace efforts in our country through its position in the BRICS organization and the good relations it enjoys with countries influencing international decisions, stressing Brazil’s full support for the presidency of the G20.
In turn, the Brazilian Foreign Minister expressed his country's readiness to play a supportive role in the efforts led by the United Nations, aimed at bringing peace and supporting sustainable development paths to alleviate the burden of the difficult humanitarian situation resulting from the war.
