The Governor of Hadramaut pointed to the governorate’s success in hosting a qualitative workshop organized by the United Nations Development Program and the Ministry of Local Administration, which was held in the city of Mukalla to enhance the role of local authorities in leading local development, in the presence of representatives from five governorates to discuss and study the successful experience of Hadhramaut and to enhance aspects of partnership between the governorates. The UN official expressed her thanks for the facilities provided by the local authority in Hadhramaut and the existing partnership with it, which made Hadhramaut a model of optimal cooperation thanks to the size of the facilities and the level of awareness, security and cooperation from the relevant authorities, stressing the readiness of the UNDP to respond to the priorities and the vision of the local authority in translating plans. The UN official praised the capabilities of Hadhramaut in successfully hosting a specific workshop on strengthening development capabilities in 5 governorates in the context of the organization’s plans to strengthen partnership and formulate joint plans for development.
In turn, the Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme, Nadia Al-Awalamah, confirmed that Hadhramaut is the only governorate that has a recovery plan in place, and the organization will work with the local authority in Hadhramaut to complete development projects and find funding for many of them.
In the meeting, which was attended by directors of relevant facilities in the governorate, members of the UNDP delegation and its coordinator in Hadramaut, the development plans and projects of the program were discussed, and ways of maximizing their benefit were discussed within the framework of the general orientation of the priorities and program of the local authority, and the importance of focusing on sustainable development projects.
