The governorates of Aden and Lahj witnessed a complete outage of electricity service this evening, amid a severe crisis in the availability of fuel necessary to operate the stations.
Local sources reported that the electricity system in Aden suddenly went out of service, which led to the cessation of generating stations for the purchased energy in Lahj Governorate.
In a statement on its official Facebook page, the Lahj Electricity Administration confirmed that the stoppage came as a result of a complete outage in Aden’s electrical system.
This outage comes at a time when stations are suffering from a severe fuel shortage, which has caused an increase in power outages and exacerbated the suffering of the population.
Until this moment, no official clarification has been issued by the concerned authorities regarding the measures taken to resolve the crisis, or the timing of resuming service.
