As part of its ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and protect citizens, the National Shield Forces, charged with protecting the Munqidh border crossing with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, destroyed large quantities of smuggled cigarettes, under the supervision of the competent legal authorities.
According to a source in the National Shield Forces, 25,554 packets of cigarettes and 207 packets of honey, which were seized during routine inspections carried out by the forces at the port, were destroyed for the second time in one month, as part of a similar destruction process of 22,000 packets of cigarettes.
The sources confirmed that the National Shield Forces are continuing their tireless efforts to combat all forms of smuggling, especially cigarette smuggling, which causes losses that fall within the category of prohibited items.
She indicated that the forces were able during the recent period to prevent the passage of large quantities of cigarettes that were hidden in travelers’ luggage.
