The Masam demining project in Yemen was able to remove 1,384 mines in several governorates.
The project operations room stated that demining teams succeeded in removing 1,384 explosive remnants of war between September 21 and 27, 2024.
He stated that most of what was removed last week was unexploded ordnance. With 1,375 ammunition, in addition to 6 anti-tank mines, two other anti-personnel mines, and one explosive device, an area of 233,833 square meters was cleared in the same period.
For his part, the project manager, Osama Al-Gosaibi, explained that what had been removed since the beginning of this September amounted to 5,962 explosive materials, including 5,816 unexploded ordnance, 110 anti-tank mines, 23 anti-personnel mines, and 13 explosive devices. While the total area that was cleared in the same period amounted to 1,067,007 square meters.
The statement indicated that the total number of land mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices that the project’s demining teams removed and destroyed amounted to 463,673 landmines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices, and more than 60,268,351 square meters of Yemeni territory that had been booby-trapped with explosive remnants of war were neutralized since mid-June. June 2018 until September 27, 2024.
