"Child Care" suspends its work in Sanaa after the death of one of its employees in the Houthi militia prisons

On Thursday, the Save the Children Organization announced the suspension of its work in areas controlled by the Houthi militia, due to the death of the security and safety official in its office in Yemen, Hisham Al-Hakimi, in the militia’s security and intelligence prison in Sana’a.
The organization said, “It is deeply saddened to confirm the death of one of its employees who died while in detention in Yemen, and calls for an immediate independent investigation.”
It confirmed in the statement, “The director of the Security and Safety Department in its office in Yemen, Hisham Al-Hakimi, was arrested on the ninth of September outside of his working hours in the organization.”
The statement pointed out that “despite repeated attempts by his family, legal representatives, and the Save the Children team, no one was able to see him or speak to him throughout the entire period of his detention.”
The organization indicated that “no charges or legal procedures were brought by the authorities or any reasons were provided for his detention in Sanaa.”
The organization added, “Under these circumstances, Save the Children will suspend its operations in northern Yemen with immediate effect.”
