The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) announced, in the middle of this month, that it will hold its regular meeting to discuss the latest military and humanitarian developments in Yemen.
According to the temporary work programme, which was approved a short while ago, the Security Council will hold its regular meeting on Yemen. On Tuesday, October 15, to discuss the political process in the country, which is still frozen amid the regional repercussions of the war between Israel and Hamas for nearly a year.
The UN special envoy to Yemen is scheduled to present; Hans Grundberg, and a representative of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, will deliver two briefings on peace efforts and the humanitarian situation in the country in the open session, while the head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA), Major General Michael Beary, will deliver; A brief report on the mission’s work in the closed consultation session.
The UN envoy had confirmed in his previous briefing that the regional escalation continues to complicate his efforts aimed at promoting a sustainable solution to the conflict in the country, and there is no doubt that the entry of Lebanese Hezbollah and Iran into the war line between Israel and Hamas, and the Houthis expanding their naval attacks and targeting Israel will further complicate international and international efforts aimed at resolving the conflict in Yemen.
