Google is moving towards making payments in local currencies around the world.
In Egypt, this change will begin in May 2025.
Google said: “We understand the importance of providing sufficient time to prepare and organize... Financial matters, which is why we shared this change with our community six months before implementation. Our support for content creators and publishers in Egypt remains ongoing and will not change.”
She added: “We currently process payments in local currencies around the world including. Chile, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, with plans to expand - to more countries in 2025.”
YouTube advertisers and content creators in Egypt will receive access to the Google Ads Network or YouTube Partner Program Their payments are in Egyptian pounds as of May 2025.
The value that content creators and publishers receive will not change – the only change is that they will be paid in Egyptian pounds instead of US dollars.
Our efforts to support content creators and publishers in Egypt is continuing as it is, whether it is through capacity-building programs for content creators such as the “Heroine” program or supporting publishers and advertisers.
A study conducted by Public First showed that Google contributed about 11.2 billion Egyptian pounds to the Egyptian economy in 2021.
Furthermore, the percentage of YouTube channels in Egypt generating revenues of EGP 1 million or more increased by more than 50% year-on-year in 2023.
