Today, Friday, at its 57th session, the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva unanimously adopted draft resolution No. (A/HRC/57/L.32) on providing technical assistance and capacity-building to the National Committee to Investigate Alleged Human Rights Violations In Yemen, the Council urged all parties to the conflict in Yemen to cooperate with the National Committee and facilitate its access to information in a complete and transparent manner.
The Council also called on the High Commissioner to provide all necessary technical and logistical support to the National Investigation Committee, support equivalent to what is provided to any investigation committee, to enable it to continue investigating allegations of violations and abuses committed by all parties to the conflict in Yemen, in line with international standards. And to submit its comprehensive report on human rights violations and abuses allegedly committed throughout Yemen, as soon as it is available.
The draft resolution noted that it notes with appreciation the work undertaken by the National Commission of Inquiry to date, despite the challenges it has faced, and welcomes the progress it has achieved, such as the regular field visits conducted throughout Yemen and consultations held with community organizations Civil rights, and improved reporting on various types of human rights violations and abuses and violations of international humanitarian law by all parties to the conflict.
