The Weather Forecast Center at the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology revealed the latest developments in the tropical situation in the Arabian Sea.
The center confirmed, in a statement, that the latest satellite images, today, Sunday, indicate the presence of a tropical depression accompanied by strong to very intense convective clouds, low and medium scattered, over the central Arabian Sea between latitudes 10.0 north. And 23.0 north, longitudes 60.0 east and 72.0 east, and the lowest cloud temperature is minus 80-90 degrees Celsius.
It was stated that the satellite images also indicated that the estimated atmospheric pressure at the center of the depression is 1004 hectopascals, with the maximum wind speed that the system maintained for 10 minutes being 25 knots, with gusts reaching 35 knots.
The forecast center added that the depression is likely to move towards the west and northwest towards the coast of the Sultanate of Oman during the next two days, God Almighty willing.
The center stressed at the conclusion of its statement that “the forecasts do not show, at this moment, any direct impacts on our country, whether heavy thunderstorms or sea turbulence.”
