The Minister of Water and Environment, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, today, along with the ambassadors of the European Union countries, headed by the Union Ambassador to Yemen, Gabriel Munuera Viñales, was briefed on the level of achievement in the project to rehabilitate and develop the sewage pumping station for Al-Jumhuriya Hospital and the surrounding neighborhoods in Aden, funded by the French Foreign Ministry through... Triangle Humanitarian Organization.
Minister Al-Sharjabi and the European delegation, which included the ambassadors of France, Catherine Com-Camon, the Netherlands, Janet Siebin, Germany, Hubert Geiger, and Romania, George Mayor, learned about the work carried out in the project under the supervision of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in Aden, which includes a wastewater reception tank. Sanitary facility with a capacity of 30 cubic meters, pump and control rooms, lift pumps, and gravity lines from inside the hospital to the pumping station with a diameter of 300 mm and a length of 320 meters, with the construction of eleven inspection rooms, a pumping line with a diameter of 160 mm, in addition to a backup electric generator, and electromechanical works at the station.
Minister Al-Sharjabi stressed the importance of the project as it is one of the most important projects that remove negative impacts on the environmental and health aspects, in addition to completing the wastewater treatment process and withdrawing large quantities of wastewater from the hospital and its neighboring neighborhoods to the main lines and even the treatment basins in Arish.
The Minister of Water indicated that the project comes within the framework of a number of projects implemented with funds from development partners and international donors in the districts of Crater, Al-Mualla, Al-Tawahi and Khormaksar, and the withdrawal of wastewater to the Al-Arish station.
In turn, the Ambassador of the Republic of France reiterated the European Union’s keenness to implement development projects in Yemen in various fields, noting that the project to rehabilitate and develop the sewage pumping station for the Republic Hospital and neighboring neighborhoods is one of these projects that have a direct impact on the population.
