On Tuesday, the Russian Federation called on the Houthi group, “Iran’s proxies,” to stop its attacks on commercial shipping ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
This was stated by the Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, during a Security Council meeting to discuss the situation in Yemen.
Nebenzia stressed Russia's firm position in supporting the safety of international navigation, calling on the Houthi gang to stop any actions that hinder freedom of navigation and pose a danger to commercial ships.
He also called for the immediate release of the ship "Galaxy Leda" and its crew, which were affected as a result of these attacks.
The Houthi gang has continued its attacks on commercial shipping ships and oil tankers for nearly a year, causing severe damage to the country's shipping routes and to Yemen in particular due to the high shipping costs to Yemen, which led to an increase in the prices of food and other necessary needs of the Yemeni people.
