The annual update to the “Android 15” operating system from Google caused many problems for some users of “Pixel 6” phones, as many of them reported that their devices stopped working.
Users had difficulty restarting their phones even using standard troubleshooting methods, according to what the British newspaper “Daily Mail” reported.
Pixel users rushed to online forums to report their experiences, noting that the bug may increase when the new Private Space feature is activated, which allows some private applications to be isolated in a secret area that can be locked with a password or fingerprint.
One user wrote on Reddit: “My phone is completely dead. I cannot turn it on or restart it using the methods provided by Google.”
These complaints were repeated after similar problems appeared among users earlier, after installing beta versions of the update.
Another user called: “Warning to everyone who owns a Pixel 6. Do not activate the Private Space feature after updating Android 15.”
Although many of the complaints are related to the Private Space feature, others reported that their phones simply shut down after the update.
In normal cases, the Pixel phone can be turned on when connected to a computer and pressing the power and volume down buttons.
Google has not issued any official statement yet, but technology experts advise Pixel users to turn off automatic updates in their settings to avoid early updates full of errors.
To turn off automatic updates on the Pixel 6, users must activate developer options by going to “Settings,” then “About Phone,” and tapping several times on “Build Number.”
Then, they can go back to Settings and tap System and then Developer Options to turn off Automatic System Updates.
