In flagrant violation of international law and norms, reliable sources revealed persistent efforts by leaders of the terrorist Houthi militia to control vast lands belonging to Ibb University, one of the most important educational institutions in central Yemen.
According to the sources, “Ali bin Ali Al-Noua,” the Ibb Governorate’s deputy for financial and administrative affairs in the coup government, is the one behind this attempt, exploiting his authority and position to carry out this crime. This step comes as part of a long series of violations committed by the militia against public property and agricultural lands, with the aim of seizing them and allocating them to its supporters and relatives.
This matter sparked a wave of anger and resentment among academics, students, and citizens alike, who organized protests rejecting this blatant attempt to seize university lands. The protesters stressed that any infringement on the university’s lands constitutes an attack on the future of future generations and their right to education and knowledge.
For its part, the leadership of Ibb University issued a strongly worded statement denouncing this attempt, and calling on the concerned authorities to intervene urgently to stop these violations and protect the university’s lands. The statement warned of dire consequences if these practices continued, stressing that the university would do everything in its power to defend its legitimate rights.
