Yemeni human rights sources revealed that the Houthi group imprisoned the father of the child Jannat Al-Siyaghi, who was raped in the capital, Sanaa, and whose case aroused public opinion.
The sources said that the Houthi group imprisoned the father of the child, Jannat Al-Siyaghi, after he appeared before the prosecution with his lawyer to demand that the file be removed and transferred to appeal.
The sources added that the father of the child Jannat rejected the Houthi pressures that aimed to force him to concede in exchange for a tribal reconciliation to settle the case, pointing out that the perpetrator is Musharraf’s brother in the Houthi group.
The sources indicated that the girl’s father adhered to his position and appealed the initial ruling issued last Saturday, at a time when Houthi leaders were seeking to end the case through a settlement with the girl’s father, but these pressures reached a dead end.
Last Saturday, the Specialized Criminal Court of First Instance in Sanaa issued a ruling in the case of the accused of raping the 9-year-old girl, ruling that the perpetrator (Ahmed Hassan Nejad) be imprisoned for 15 years and financial compensation to the child’s family amounting to 6 million riyals.
The ruling was met with widespread popular dissatisfaction by citizens, led by the father of the child Jannat, who called on Yemenis to stand in solidarity with him and demanded the execution of the death sentence against the perpetrator.
In a video clip circulating on social media platforms, the girl’s father appeared demanding, along with dozens of citizens gathered in front of the Criminal Court in Sana’a, that the death sentence be implemented against the rapist of the child Jannat, stressing that what the court ruled was contrary to the law and accusing the judiciary of corruption.
In mid-June, Ahmad Hassanjad kidnapped the 9-year-old girl, Jannat Taher Abdel Wahed Al-Siyaghi, and then raped her in the Artal area of Sanhan District in Sana’a Governorate.
