Today, the local water and sanitation corporation in Aden Governorate handed over the site of the project to establish pumping station No. 2 at the Al-Barzakh station in Khormaksar district, to the implementing agency, Dom Company.
The project, which costs one million and 765 thousand dollars, is funded by the World Bank through the United Nations Office for Project Services in Yemen (UNEPS), and is being implemented under the supervision of the Water and Sanitation Project for Urban Cities at the Ministry of Water and Environment, includes building the station and guarding cable trenches and pipe routes, in addition to the works Electrical, as well as supplying and installing eight horizontal pumps with a flow rate of 230 liters/second and 100 liters/second, supplying and installing a network of pipes and valves and connecting them to the inside and outside of the pumps, and an overhead crane with a capacity of 10 tons with all the required accessories and materials.
Deputy Director General of the Water and Sanitation Corporation in Aden, Engineer Bilal Al-Shaabi, stressed the importance of the project in distributing water and pumping it directly into the existing pipe systems, indicating that the new station will work alternately with the old station, which will reduce the burden on the old station.
Al-Shaabi pointed out the possibility of supplying water to new lines heading to the Sira and Khormaksar districts in the future, ensuring the continuity of water pumping into the network without interruption in cases of emergency or maintenance.
The site handover was attended by the Executive Director of the Water and Sanitation Project for Urban Cities - Aden, Engineer Niazi Abdo Muhammad, the city engineer of Aden - Abyan - Lahj - Al Dhalea of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Ramses Younis, and representatives of Dom Company.
