A symposium organized by the Southern National Dialogue Team, today, Thursday, in the capital, Aden, entitled “Adopting a moderate, moderate religious discourse that deepens coexistence and tolerance among the people of the South,” called for strengthening coordination between the Southern Transitional Council and scholars to spread the moderate discourse.
She urged all parties to contribute to building a stable and coexistent society, in addition to organizing awareness programs targeting young people to consolidate the concept of tolerance and peace.
Abdulkarim Ahmed Saeed, Acting Head of the Dialogue Team, expressed the keenness of President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, President of the Council, to strengthen communication with southern sheikhs and religious scholars in accordance with the outcomes of the consultative meeting and the Southern National Charter, to spread the values of tolerance and coexistence.
He explained that the symposium comes within the Council’s efforts to build bridges of trust and cooperation between the various intellectual and religious spectrums in the South, and to devote a culture of dialogue to resolve differences and enhance community unity.
Dr. Wadah Al-Shabhi, Head of the Thought and Guidance Department in the Council’s General Secretariat, stressed the importance of moderate religious discourse to achieve social stability, and the prominent role of scholars and sheikhs in guiding society and making them aware of the importance of tolerance and moderation.
He stressed that the current stage requires uniting efforts to adopt a religious discourse that spreads peace, stands against extremist ideas, and confronts any Rafidite intellectual invasion that threatens everyone, calling for close ranks, unifying efforts, spreading a culture of coexistence, and strengthening southern cohesion.
In turn, Sheikh Ali Sharqah, Deputy Director of the Endowments Office in the capital, Aden, appreciated the role of President Al-Zubaidi in opening the doors of the southern national dialogue among all groups in the south, pointing out that religion is moderation in which there is no excess or negligence.
Salem Al-Dayani, a member of the dialogue team, reviewed a paper entitled “Mosques are platforms for peace and love” about the message of Islam and its call to spread love, stressing the necessity of following a moderate religious discourse, which helps to confront all challenges.
Dr. Mukhtar Nasr presented a working paper on the necessity of adopting a moderate, moderate religious discourse that promotes coexistence and tolerance among the people of the South, to combat extremism and its negative effects, stressing the importance of the role of clerics in spreading religious awareness.
