The Specialized Hospital for Ophthalmology and Surgery in Ma’rib, affiliated with the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, provided more than 43,000 free treatment services for eye diseases during the past three months, from August until the end of October of the current year 2024 AD.
A hospital report stated that the beneficiaries of free hospital services during the first quarter of the fourth phase amounted to 43,682 free eye medicine and surgery services, and the displaced, the host community and refugees in Ma’rib Governorate benefited from them, as well as visitors from the governorates of the Republic.
The hospital performed 1,488 various free surgeries for eye patients to restore their hope of light, and free medicines were dispensed to 19,119 treatment units, and 6,537 medical glasses and sunglasses were also dispensed, while the laboratory provided 3,252 laboratory examination services, and diagnosed 2,520 cases using diagnostic devices. The clinics received 10,766 male and female expatriates.
The project also aims to reduce the suffering of those in need of eye diseases and surgery services, which have become costly and expensive, which in turn reduces the rate of visual diseases and combats blindness, through careful examinations, performing the necessary surgical operations, and providing medications and specialized treatments, which contributes to improving vision and health. Patients' eyes, and supporting sustainable development efforts in the health field in the governorate.
