Launching the activities of the World Drug Safety Week in Aden

Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Bahibah, the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies, in cooperation with the National Center for Drug Vigilance and Safety, launched the activities of the World Drug Safety Week, which runs from November 4 to 10, 2024.
At the opening of the event, Dr. Rabab Al-Saqqaf, Director of the National Center for Drug Vigilance and Safety, gave a speech in which she stressed the importance of this week in enhancing community awareness about drug safety through awareness lectures and field visits to hospitals and places where residents gather. She also praised the support of the Supreme Pharmaceutical Authority for the National Center in implementing its various awareness activities.
For his part, Dr. Abdul Qadir Al-Bakri, Executive Director General of the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies, stressed the need for everyone, especially the media, to interact in educating citizens about the importance of reporting any side effects of treatments and pharmaceutical preparations, with a focus on the dangers of indiscriminate use of antibiotics. . He also pointed out the importance of raising awareness about the proper use of medicines, ensuring quality and careful examination of imported medicines.
Al-Bakri added that the Supreme Pharmaceutical Authority encourages the local pharmaceutical industry in accordance with the highest specifications and quality, noting that there are seven pharmaceutical factories in the liberated governorates and three other factories under construction.
The event was attended by Dr. Ali Abdullah Saleh, Director of Oversight, and a number of directors of the relevant authorities in the Authority and the National Center for Drug Vigilance and Safety.
