The Aden Electricity Corporation announced, on Monday evening, the arrival of a shipment of diesel fuel to the capital, Aden, after the generating stations stopped working completely more than 24 hours ago.
A statement issued by the corporation, a copy of which was received by Scoop 24, said that the fuel shipment that arrived in Aden is sufficient to feed the generation stations for only two days, so far.
The statement added that the start of operation of the power plants is expected to be during the early hours of Tuesday morning, after the fuel refueling process is completed.
The electricity crisis has worsened in the city of Aden over the past weeks, as the hours of power outages exceed the hours of operation, with a rate of 16 hours of interruption compared to two hours of operation.
The arrival of the fuel shipment to Aden represents a breakthrough in the city's electricity crisis, but it is expected that this crisis will continue if sufficient quantities of fuel are not available to cover the city's needs.
