For the third week...massive demonstrations in Abyan denouncing the continued deterioration of living conditions

Massive demonstrations were renewed in Abyan Governorate, for the third week in a row, denouncing the continued collapse of the local currency and the rise in prices of food and basic needs.
On Monday, the Zanzibar District, the capital of the governorate, witnessed massive demonstrations in response to the call of the Popular Protest Committee for the Revolution of the Hungry in the Abyan Delta, in protest against the deteriorating living and economic conditions and the high prices of food and basic needs.
The demonstrators set out in front of the local authority building and roamed the city streets, raising banners and slogans and chanting slogans denouncing the rise in prices, the deterioration of basic services, and the delay in the payment of salaries.
The demonstrators expressed their categorical rejection of what they called “the policy of starvation and impoverishment,” demanding that the Presidential Leadership Council and the government take all measures to address the deteriorating economic conditions.
The presidency of the Protest Committee stated that the escalation will continue until citizens’ demands are met and urgent solutions to the catastrophic economic situation are found.
