Two soldiers from the southern forces were martyred in an Al-Qaeda bombing in Abyan

Two soldiers from the southern forces were martyred and at least three others were injured in a bombing carried out by Al-Qaeda, targeting a military patrol in Abyan Governorate.
According to what was published by the Chinese Xinhua Agency, quoting a government source in the local authority in Abyan Governorate, the explosion occurred with an explosive device on Wednesday evening, targeting the military patrol while it was carrying out routine tasks in the “Al-Baqira” area, which is about 25 kilometers east of the Mudiya District.
The source added that the explosion resulted in the death of two soldiers and the injury of three others, noting that the explosive device was planted by members of Al-Qaeda and they detonated it remotely while the military patrol was passing.
The source also confirmed that the targeted patrol belongs to the 3rd Support and Support Brigade, which is part of the Southern Ground Forces.
It should be noted that the southern forces and government security forces have been launching a joint operation against Al-Qaeda in Mudiyah District and other areas in Abyan Governorate since late 2022.
These forces are often subjected to attacks or bombings with explosive devices by the extremist organization, which is active in several remote areas in the governorates of Abyan and Shabwa and other Yemeni governorates.
