A girl and her mother drowned in one of the water barriers to collect rainwater this Saturday morning in the Al-Qadam area in Murais in the Qataba District, north of Al-Dhalea Governorate.
Local residents confirmed that the girl, Bint Nayef Saeed Al-Mansoub, who is 20 years old, a student at the Elite College, Department of Midwifery, went to fetch water from the water barrier, but she slipped at the barrier and was unable to get out, and while her mother, called Gharsa Saeed Muthanna Al-Mansoub, who is 40 years old, tried to save her. It caught up with her, which led to their drowning.
The people were not able to know about the incident until a passerby saw the bodies of the girl and her mother floating on the back of the water barrier.
The village was saddened by this painful incident, and the people called on all boys and girls to be careful, and not to allow them to go to dams and water barriers that endanger their lives because they cannot swim in them.
