Local authorities in Hodeidah said that the Houthi group recently intensified the digging of tunnels and trenches in the Al-Durayhimi District, on the southern outskirts of the coastal city.
The human rights office in the governorate said that the group displaced the residents of villages on the Haradh-Al-Hudaydah line in Bajil District, and also turned the Al-Khubah Fish Port in Al-Lahiyah District into a closed military zone and prevented fishermen from practicing their usual activities.
He explained that these movements reflect a state of unprecedented military buildup in Hodeidah, through which the group aims to transform it into a complete military barracks.
He pointed out that the group had previously, during the past weeks, forcibly displaced a number of residents of various villages in a number of the governorate’s districts, including five villages south of the city of Al-Jarrahi.
It was revealed that the Houthis gave the residents of the “Manzhar” area of the Al-Hawk District, south of Hodeidah Airport, five days to evacuate their homes without providing any justifications, and they began building a wall surrounding the villages in the entire area, closing all their entrances except one entrance.
Last week, the executive office in Hodeidah Governorate, affiliated with the group, discussed mechanisms to enhance readiness to confront what it called the “American-Zionist” escalation, and raise full readiness to confront “the nation’s enemies,” according to Saba Agency, in its Houthi version.
