The UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, confirmed that he held meetings in Muscat with Omani officials and Houthi leaders, to discuss the economic crisis and peace efforts in Yemen.
The envoy's office added in tweets on the X platform that Grundberg met with senior Omani officials and discussed the necessary measures to address the economic crisis and respond to regional developments. He also discussed strengthening commitments to a comprehensive political process in Yemen.
During his meeting with the Houthi leaders, the UN envoy called for the immediate and unconditional release of all UN employees and other arbitrarily detained people.
The office of the UN envoy had met with leaders from the Islah Party, and before them leaders in the conference, to discuss the paths of the peace process in Yemen.
The meetings stressed the importance of peace efforts focusing on restoring state institutions, in accordance with the main references, addressing the economic situation, working to end the financial division, and unifying the currency.
Last week, the United Nations confirmed that there is an urgent need in Yemen to launch a constructive dialogue to reach a comprehensive ceasefire and start a political process.
